breastmilk

The few months after I had my first child, I noticed the weight was melting off. Daily. It was a combination of being too busy to eat much and breastfeeding. Breastfeeding alone can burn around 300 calories a day.

Even though it's been a few years since my youngest was born, I have tried to keep up pumping every now and then. My theory is that if there is even a few drops then I still have the capability. The fact that I don't pump often nor do I drink much water means I literally just get drops out. But I'm working on upping this production. The more you pump, the more you make.

So, more water, more milk, less me... That's the theory!

Readers

Initially this was a kind of diary-like thing but I see - OMG - there are people reading this!

I'd love to hear your comments or find out more about you.

Let's take the focus off my self-centered-ness!

seriously?

seriously?

Nothing gets your attention like standing in the bright lights of a Target dressing room. I think it's been a year since I've seen myself from behind. And it wasn't my ass that made me think 'seriously?!'.. it was my arms. Yall, they are like little floppy sausages. They don't even look like they match my body anymore. No delusion there.

So I thought to myself - self- you've really got to change this. NOW!

And 20 minutes later self was eating chips and french onion dip in the car in the parking lot.

I may need hypnosis, obviously I checked my self control at the door.

164 pound reverse anorexic

The starting point. 164 pounds. Somewhere under here is a 130 pound woman. 34 pounds. That's as heavy as my entire 4 year old. This is beyond a little chubby layer, it's obesity.

I've often wondered if I have reverse anorexia. I think I'm thinner than I am. I think I'm prettier than I am and then when I look in a mirror I try to adjust my posture to resemble what I look like in my head. That's sick. Just lose some freaking weight already.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere

It's 5 o'clock somewhere - the old joke about why it's ok to drink in the middle of the day. But to day I somewhat celebrate drinking in the middle of the day! Guys... I made it till 1:30pm! Ok I grabbed a coke on the way out to pick up the kids and then I had one more before dinner but I did it 1/2 way through the day!

Tomorrow's goal - 1 drink and 2 big glasses of water.

Chil-fil-not-to-day!

After dropping the kids off at school I ran a few errands and of course passed by a dreaded fast food restraunt on the way. Today it was Chick-Fil-A with their evil buttery biscuits and tea and lemonade. I actually stopped and checked my wallet to see if I had enough cash on me. That's true willpower huh?

Thankfully God had only supplied me with $4 as I'd absentmindedly left the rest at home and I veered left into traffic an towards home. I had rationalized that just one in the mornings wouldn't hurt and would actually kick off my day for me. Like, I'm delusional, right?

But now I'm home. With my water and granola bar. mmm

For The Winter

When you're pregnant you put on extra weight to use as fuel then and later when breastfeeding.

In general, humans still put on a little extra weight in the fall primally preparing for the harsh winter months.

Honestly I'd be set for a few years.

I have this layered jiggly wiggly sagging bunker of food storage all over my body. I never REALLY noticed it coming on. I've always been a bit curvy but OMG yall, I have an apron.

If you don't know what an apron is, please don't google it. It'd give you nightmares. I'll just tell you that an apron is that layer of belly fat just under your belly button - that, when it gets too big and too heavy, rolls down over your pubic area and hips the wider it gets so you get a crease - shadow and everything - of hanging fat on your body.

Guys, I'm only 5'2. And my ideal weight is 120. When I was 135 I felt a bit pudgy, I did. Now I'm 30 pounds bigger than that and it's got to be all in my belly. No kidding, even when I'm lying down it puffs up and sags. Gone are the days when I could lay on my side and pretend I was thin - or lay on my back with legs straight up in the air, where the fat settles at the bottom but the rest of your legs look amazing!

So, we have to put a stop to this. I'm too short to have this fat apron go any further - it'd be out my skirt hem by springtime. Design around that Vera Wang.
